It's been a busy year for Dual Universe, and if the next phase of alpha is an indicator, 2020 looks just as busy. Jean-christophe Baillie, CEO of Novaquark, Shared a video that Outlines some of the major features of the voxelbox MMO's third alpha phase.
Phase 3 will be the first iteration of PvP, specifically construct vs. construct combat. Dual Universe will also eventually have avatar vs. avatar PvP, but the team reasoned that ship combat would be more interesting to both play and test. This means that players will get to build combat ships and blow holes in one another in real time using the game's voxel technology. Details about weapon types and battles were not given, but Baille confirmed that the PvP would first take place in a specific area to get feedback. Players should also keep in mind that the repair tool is not in alpha 3, so only build things you don't mind being blown to pieces.
Another major feature of alpha 3 is the ability for players to form organizations, or guilds, which actually appeared in beta but was successful the first time it passed alpha. Organizations will come with a number of related social features like the ability to define ownership of property and who can modify things. Alpha 3 will also provide various adjustments to the dual universe, such as better visibility in the dark, improved UI elements, and some visual improvements.
As for the future of Dual Universe, Baille spoke first about polishing up what's in the game now such as new player onboarding, performance, and the features of alpha 3. Baille also brought up an end to NDA, which will come sometime between alpha and beta but not before March.
More details about the next alpha in January 2020, its features, and more details will be discussed in the next podcast, and may be elaborated in other ways, but for now, followers of the binary universe can get a brief introduction of J.C. from video below.
